2007-2008 TECC President's Corner

July 1, 2007

All,

Here we are again ... at the start of another Texas Exes year.  Here we are again ... looking back on another GREAT year we had!  For me, the best part had to be hosting our Texas Longhorns Baseball Team in Corpus Christi!  How wonderful was it watching our team win a ballgame with the Harbor Bridge as a backdrop!  How great was it having BEVO XIV at a baseball game ... let alone a road game!  Everything about that day was so perfect.

I can't continue without sincerely thanking everyone who helped with all of the events leading up to the baseball game.  Holding the first ever Texas Exes Open House, hosting an autograph with the entire team and Coach Augie Garrido, hosting a Texas Exes reception in the Cotton Club during the game ... it was all a true delight.  Thank you so much to everyone who had a hand in putting the events together.

If hosting the baseball events weren't enough, this year's Awards Banquet included both Athletics Directors DeLoss Dodds (Men's) and Christine Plonsky (Women's)!  It was an honor to host the two BEST athletics directors in the country!  It's no wonder why are our programs continue to strive.  This year's awards went to O'Neal's Welding and Fabrication, Inc. (Corporate Sponsor of the Year), Nicole R. Cunningham (New Member of the Year), and William T. Flynn (Longhorn of the Year).  All awards were very well deserved.

In addition to all of our wonderful events, this past year saw the addition of the TX/OU Bash Before the Clash & Torchlight Rally, as well as the first ever TECC football trip (to Rice).  It was great to have added new experiences for our members to take part in.  Of course, though, no year would be complete without our regular events: Senior Sendoff, Football Kickoff Classic, Texas Independence Day Celebration, UT/A&M Hoot-n-Holler & Hex Rally, etc.  All were as successful as ever.  We already have some great things planned for this coming year.  I'm definitely looking forward to the next few months.

As always, it is my pleasure to continue to serve you as President of our organization.  As successful as we have been over the last few years, we still have plenty of potential to achieve.  I am really excited about the challenge of reaching that potential.  With all of y'alls help, I know we can do it together.  Thanks again to everyone who has a hand in making our organization operate.  Here's to another great year ...

Hook 'em!
