Texas Exes Raise Money For Scholarships

Ex-Students' Alumni Association
Corpus Christi Chapter held its Annual Spring Scholarship Banquet April
27, 2005 at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center.
Local Texas Exes gathered to raise money that will go towards scholarships
benefiting area high school students.

Michael
Carrizales introduced Living Legend Texas Women's Basketball Coach Jody
Conradt, who served as Guest Speaker for the event. Conradt is a
six-time NCAA National Coach of the Year, Multi Hall of Famer, 2nd
Winningest NCAA Women's Basketball Coach (4th overall including Men's),
and was a finalist for the Naismith Basketball Coach of the Century Award.
"It was my distinct honor and pleasure to
introduce such a recognized sports figure of worldwide women’s
athletics.” Michael Carrizales said.

Current President Ron Lowe discussed the organization’s accomplishments from the
past year, as well as the Texas Exes
upcoming events.
Board Member David Bridges facilitated a silent auction, in addition to a raffle
drawing for a beautifully hand-crafted Texas themed barbeque pit courtesy of Board Member
Barry O’Neal of O’Neal Welding.
Local sports figures, including Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi Athletic
Director Dan Viola, A&M-CC Women’s Basketball Coach Jodi
Kest, A&M-CC Men’s Basketball
Coach Ronnie Arrow, and CCISD Administrative Officer for Athletics
Brenda Marshall were also
recognized for their respective accomplishments and contributions to the community.
