Texas Exes' Thirsty Thursday Returns to Corpus Christi
by
Michael Carrizales
July 24, 2005
Thirsty
Thursday, a monthly social gathering held by the Corpus Christi Texas Exes,
recently made its return to Corpus Christi on July 21. Last week's
occurrence marked the first time in nine months that the event had
officially been held. Local Texas
Exes, as well as friends and fans of The University of Texas
at Austin alike, gathered at Paradise Billiards to socialize, network, and share
stories about their respective experiences involving the state of Texas'
flagship university.
"It's great to see so many young new
faces here today." longtime member Wayne Stamper said.
The organization recently had been in a
transitional period over the last several months. However, Thirsty
Thursday's return signaled that the chapter is very much back on its game.
"Tonight's turnout is absolutely
wonderful. It shows a lot of promise for the upcoming
year." added Ron Lowe, VP - Scholarships
The gathering was also the first event of
the new seasonal Texas Exes
year. Exes Chairman and President Michael Carrizales briefly held the
floor to discuss plans for the near future. President-Elect David
Bridges displayed the new Game Watch
banner for the upcoming football season.
Also on hand was Jim Lago of 1440 KEYS to discuss the Longhorn Sports
Network radio broadcasts.
Thirsty
Thursday is a monthly social gathering held by the Corpus
Christi Texas Exes, the local chapter of the Ex-Students'
Association of The University
of Texas at Austin. The group is open to all Texas
Exes members, Texas
graduates, former and current students, as well as friends, family, and
fans of The University. Thirsty
Thursday occurs on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00
PM. Currently locations change each month. For more
information or location decisions, please visit the chapter's website.
