Finding a hook to hang on: Local Texas Exes welcome all fans

Texas fans, alumni or no, bring their spirit to the show, sporting their best orange glow

Among tonight's cheering fans who count themselves as members of the Texas Exes Corpus Christi will be those who aren't actual exes.

A few years ago, the organization, which is a chartered chapter of the Ex-Students' Association of The University of Texas at Austin, opened its doors to all Longhorn fans. Although UT alumni make up the majority of the local chapter's members, graduating or even attending The University is not a requirement.

"Friends and fans of the Longhorns, anyone can become a member of the organization, anyone who is willing to show support can join," said Michael Carrizales, 28, Chairman and President of the Texas Exes. "There are a lot of people who are not graduates." ...
